Al Ahli is set to close on agreements for Chelsea target Victor Osimhen, who would be worth £67.3m fee with Napoli as he heads to London today for Al Ahli medical.
However, Nigeria International has not given the green light to the move as Saudi sources indicate Al Ahli is likely to sign just one of the Chelsea FC strikers it showed interest in.
It is understood that Chelsea has not given up on long-term target Osimhen – although the club wage structure would have to be respected for any move to happen.
The Blues were prepared to bring in Osimhen on loan with an obligation to buy, but Al Ahli moved ahead of Chelsea agreeing to a four-year contract which includes a release clause.
If a deal for the ex-Lille striker is completed then he would be joining the club Napoli wants him to go to the most.
The Serie A have already brought in a potential Osimhen replacement in Romelu Lukaku, who joined from Chelsea on Thursday.
Before agreeing to the Saudi move, Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda insisted “he still has so much to do in Europe” – a statement which appeared to give Chelsea every chance to come up with an acceptable offer.
But the west London club have fallen way short of what Osimhen would want, with Chelsea needing him to fit into their new wage structure.
