A notorious and terrorist leader operating in the North West, Halilu Sububu, has been killed by the military in the current onslaught against bandits. The Nigerien met his Waterloo just 24 hours after posting a video in which he asked his fellow wanted terrorists, Bello Turji, Dankarami, Dogo Gide and others to stop killing poor people and focus their fight against the military.
Sububu, according to the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Nigerian Air Force (NAF)Headquarters, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, was eliminated in Mayanchi village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State during ongoing efforts by NAF and ground forces to “exploit intelligence and secure the area” following contact with the adversaries.
Thirty-eight other bandits were killed alongside Sububu, the NAF spokesman said. Four bodies of the bandits, including that of Sububu were retrieved for verification. He said: “In addition to the elimination of the terrorists, a significant cache of weapons was recovered, including two Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) tubes, one RPG bomb, three PKT machine guns, five AK-47 rifles, 29 magazines, and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition of varying calibres.”
