The ceremonial groundbreaking of the epochal judicial building site marks the official start of its reconstruction and the addition of a new structure with modern and technological features.

The organization at the groundbreaking ceremony of one of its momentous projects – the High Court, Igbosere made known its phased redevelopment efforts to transform the old colonial structure into a fit-for-the-future modern facility that amplifies the structure technologically while preserving the court’s legacies and traditions.
At the program, the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the presence of the deputy governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat; the chief judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba and the attorney general and commissioner for justice, Hon. Justice Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) – says the groundbreaking towards the rebuilding of the High Court, Igbosere affirms the state’s commitment to rehabilitating destroyed monuments. With unrelenting efforts that will continue to see Lagos uphold its status as one of the world’s leading global cities, a topmost commercial nerve center on the African continent and its citizenry’s sustained as well as beloved center of excellence.
Calling for public support to aid RLTF fundraising efforts of the NGN42 billion that is required to complete the rebuilding of the oldest and most recognizable court building in the land. Towards meeting the global SDG 16 of justice for all through strong institutions and SDG 10 for reducing inequalities.
And according to RLTF chairman, Dr. Yemi Cardoso, “among the six pioneer projects identified by The Fund, High Court Igbosere holds historical significance to Lagos as a State, and Nigeria as a country. It is a source of heritage pride, hence, the dedication to its redevelopment” with priorities to rebuild the old court structure; upgrade it to a state-of-the-art facility, and restore the artefacts that are signatures of its history.
In a statement by The Funds, chief executive officer and project director, Engr. Olujimi Hotonu,” post the groundbreaking ceremony, the High Court, Igbosere project will be implemented in two phases. The first is the restoration of the old court structure. The second is the building of a multi-storey and multi-purpose structure backed by digital technology to resolve administrative and space constraints that will feature additional office spaces, courtrooms, parking spaces, as well as giving room to future expansion”.

The Rebuild Lagos Trust Fund LTD / GTE is a non-profit, public private partnership (PPP) with a vision “to be a catalyst that helps rebuild Lagos for tomorrow”. It was incorporated on Monday, 26 April, 2021, as a company limited by guarantee. The Fund has identified an initial six projects to springboard its mission: Iga Idunganran Primary Health Care Centre, High Court of Lagos State, Igbosere, Lagos City Hall, Ikotun Fire Station, Lagos State DNA And Forensic Centre, and the Oyingbo Bus Terminal.
The Fund is also a show of good faith of government’s commitment to repairing the fault lines of trust with the citizens of Lagos state, especially among the vulnerable groups (disfranchised youth, women, the elderly and people living with disabilities), and the government.
