Festus Keyamo, spokesperson of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, has dismissed the suggestions that northern leaders will betray Bola Ahmed Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the elections hot up.
Tinubu’s support was instrumental in the victory of the APC in 2015.
Reacting to the porpurted claims of subterranean plots and conspiracies against the presidential bid of Tinubu, Keyamo said it is an insult for Atiku Abubakar’s men to suggest that northern leaders will betray Tinubu.
He said: “It is even an insult for Atiku’s men to suggest that @officialABAT will be betrayed by the APC Northern leaders. Since betrayal runs in their veins, they think it’s the norm for everyone to behave like their Principal. February 25th will teach them what honour and integrity means.
“What’s destroying the PDP is the insensitivity, greed & covetousness of one man in not respecting their own constitution & the zoning tradition of this country b/w the North & South. He hopes to lie his way to the Presidency. Nemesis is just lurking around the corner on Feb. 25th.
“When you show the North that you can be politically honest and reliable like @officialABAT and the other southern APC leaders showed in their unflinching support for President Buhari in the last 8 years, then expect absolute & unquestionable reciprocity in their dealings with you.
“The 2023 elections will prove DECISIVELY that the North has tremendous passion for the unity & cohesion of this country. I have no doubt about that. The APC Governors took the lead in this regard during our primaries & their constituents in the North got the message loud & clear.
“The strategy of the PDP pinning all their hopes of winning on our Northern leaders ‘betraying’ @officialABAT is a dumb political strategy. By trumpeting it, they put our Northern leaders under pressure to deliver for ASIWAJU because the North is renowned for its honour & fidelity.
“The desperation of the opposition knows no bounds now. They’ve resorted to lies & fake news to attempt to destabilise our ranks, just as theirs have collapsed. Gov. Yahaya Bello is 100 percent with @officialABAT. The Feb 25th result will show the world our Governors’ commitment!”
