Interior minister Rauf Aregbesola has urged stakeholders and leaders of the APC in a meeting in Lagos to rally support for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s reelection.
This is contained in a statement on Monday.
The meeting, which had in attendance, artisans, the Igbo community and high-level players in the politics of Alimosho and other critical areas in the state, was held at the minister’s Ikeja residence.
Mr Aregbesola urged them to ensure the party’s victory by embarking on varying mobilisation as well as door-to-door campaigns to ensure the party’s victory.
The minister said all grievances should be set aside, urging the party members to work together for the party’s success on Saturday.
“It is important to let you know that we cannot allow those who have not been with us since the days of the struggle from SDP, AD, AC, ACN, and now APC to take what belongs to us. We worked tirelessly for the success of what we have today in Lagos,” Mr Aregbesola explained. “We cannot allow those fanning the embers of discord within the party to derail us.”
He stressed that the party stalwarts should “forget whatever may be the issue and work for the success” of APC in the March 18 governorship and state assembly elections.
“Winning Lagos is not just about shutting the doors to those who do not have the capacity to rule us but to ensure we crown all that Senator Bola Tinubu has achieved so far,” he noted. “Especially now that he is the president-elect, to the benefit of our party and the generality of the people of Lagos state.”
Mr Aregbesola also urged them to return to their various units, wards and communities to work for the party.
