Armed robbers and suspected cattle rustlers who mounted a blockade on a portion of the Kano-Zaria Highway with logs of wood and stones on the morning of Tuesday, 02 July have had their plans foisted by security operatives.
According to reports a police patrol team in the Makarfi division of Kaduna State and local vigilantes foiled the attempt of the armed robbers.
In a statement by the police spokesperson in the state, Mansir Hassan, the road was cleared in record time to allow safe ease of movement for motorists while efforts to nab the fleeing suspects ensued through Tuesday morning.
Hassan said following a shootout, the criminals fled, leaving behind their Golf Volkswagen car with registration number APP 166 DG.
In another development at a Fulani settlement in Rugar Sojidi near Issan Makaranta, Kagarko Local Government Area (LGA), Kaduna State, villagers apprehended and killed a suspected bandit, a member of a gang that attacked the village to kidnap individuals in the community.
A police report issued by Mansir Hassan read “The incident occurred around 01:30 a.m. on Tuesday when the police in Jere received information about armed bandits invading Rugar Sojidi”. The report also indicated the bandits had abducted three persons from the area before the villagers intervened.
