The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) on Saturday, 23 March launched its Food Intervention Programme, in Kano State with the distribution of 120,000 bags of rice. The ADF claims its program worth N15 billion is targeted at distributing food palliatives across Nigeria, to cushion the pangs of economic hardships the masses are experiencing. The foundation aims to distribute over one million 10kg bags of rice across the 774 Local Government Areas of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The rice distribution programme which commenced in Kano with a flag-off ceremony will be expanded to all the other 36 states and the FCT over the next two weeks. Speaking at the flag-off of the program in Kano State at the weekend, the chairman of Aliko Dangote Foundation and group president of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), Aliko Dangote, also emphasized the importance of compassion and encouraged generosity amongst citizens during the holy month of Ramadan.
