Fire has gutted a part of the Dangote refinery effluent plant. The fire broke out at a section of the Refinery located in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, on Wednesday afternoon.
In a trending video, a cloud of thick black smoke billowed into the sky from the facility.
The management of Dangote Industries Limited has reacted to reports of a fire incident at its refinery on Wednesday, saying the ‘minor fire’ occurred at its Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and has been swiftly contained.
Dangote Group chief corporate communications officer, Anthony Chiejina, confirmed the development in a statement.
He assured the public that there the situation was under control cause as the refinery continues to operate normally with no injuries or harm reported among the staff on duty.
“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP) today, Wednesday, 26th of June. There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating, and there is no recorded injury or body harm to all our staff on duty,” Chiejina said.
