The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has said the planned natiowide protests scheduled for 01 August was unnecessary because President Bola Tinubu has started addressing the clamours of agitators.
This is as prominent Nigerians, including statesmen, top government officials, political leaders, clerics and monarchs on Monday, 29 July urged dialogue between the Federal Government and organizers of the proposed protest in the interest of the nation.
Maintaining those organizing the protest should suspend the idea as it could likely lead to hijacking and violence of grave proportions reminiscent of the 2020 EndSARS protest.
Two ministers, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and Mohammed Idris said there is no justification for the nationwide protest because the President is fulfilling his campaign promises to the people.
Idris, who spoke to reporters at the State House in Abuja, after the meeting said the President was already addressing the grievances of the organizers through the implementation of laudable people-oriented programmes.
He posited that the federal government has commenced the distribution of additional 10 trucks of 50kg of rice to each state of the federation, which would be sold at designated centres at N40,000. Idris said the protest would lack justification because the President has been meeting the demands of the organizers.
