The headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) along Port Harcourt Road, Imo State, came under attack on Monday as gunmen invaded the office.
According to Daily Trust, the hoodlums, numbering more than 10, attacked the facilities of the electoral body at 3am.
More than three offices on the premises of the commission were torched before a reinforcement from Imo police headquarters dislodged the hoodlums, three of whom were reportedly killed.
Two others were captured alive, while the police were said to be on the trail of other suspects.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Mike Abattam, confirmed the story, but did not give details.
He said that the police were gathering information on the incident and on a manhunt for the other fleeing suspects.
Among items destroyed were furniture, files and vehicles.
The EPM building was completely burnt,while the Accounts and Servicom depts were also torched.
