The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said she is not afraid of death from any quarters, having attained the age of 64. This was in reaction to a viral video of an unidentified Islamic preacher in Bauchi State saying the First Lady deserved to die for her Christian faith. The preacher also described the Muslim/Muslim ticket that brought President Bola Tinubu to power as a scam. But Senator Tinubu, who spoke yesterday during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwan Adamu, before inaugurating some projects in the state, said: “I want to thank His Excellency (Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed). He keeps assuring me that I am safe in Bauchi. But I want to say that I am too old to be afraid. If God has granted me over 60 years on earth, I shouldn’t be afraid of death. I thank God that you encouraged me to come. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and this is the time for us to unite more than ever before.” Governor Mohammed condemned the death threats against the First Lady, describing it as a “national embarrassment”. The governor expressed dismay over the preacher’s outburst, saying the threat was outrageous. He assured Mrs. Tinubu of her safety in the state and pledged to take appropriate action against the cleric who issued the death threat.
