“Pen is mightier than sword”
I’ve decided to write this memo to His Excellency, The Deputy Governor of Kano State, (Dr) Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna out of love and patriotism for my dear state.
Before, I move further, let me refer His Excellency to one of my article in which I predicted him as the winner of the 2023 governorship election out of a fair and credible analysis I made.
An analysis or prediction is just close to reality but circumstances may change it and prove the person that make it abortive.
As a writer and journalist, I’ve written several articles to my credit which were published on national dailies since 2013.
I’m writing this memo to call on the attention of His Excellency over the Wednesday 22nd March press conference on the outcome of the election that produced your opponent Abba Kabir Yusuf of NNPP as the winner. It’s not easy to lose in an election. It’s paining for an aspirant or contestant.
I lost election in 2019 as a candidate and in 2022 as an aspirant under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party.
Your Excellency, I’m your neighbour by community and your personal residence. Miller road is part of the Tudun Wada Community under the Sarkin Tudun Wada Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu Tudun Wada.
I’m a fierce critic of the Kwankwasiyya movement and its leader since 2019 not for personal reasons but for the interest and integrity of Kano State.
I supported you in the Saturday, 18th March governorship election wholeheartedly for so many reasons which I made mentioned of in one of my article where I predicted you the winner of that election.
You’re not only respectful person but a good listener. I heard this from different credible sources since I’ve never met you in person. A listening person will make a good leader.
You’ve respect for elders, support the less privilege. In short, you’re a progressive person unlike your principal.
My elder brother Sunusi Musa SAN had to convince me with his kind words about your person, that you’ll make a good leader. I once told him that I’m a beneficiary of your kind gesture as Chairman of Nassarawa LG in 2008.
Your Excellency, election will come and go, the winner will win and the loser will lose but in every election, I don’t believe there is a loser. It’s a political and democratic process that we all learn and acquire the experience which money cannot buy.
This is not your first time of contesting for election, you did that in 2003 and 2007, again in 2019 when you were the running mate of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, a position you’re occupying to this moment.
We are all aware of the strength of Kwankwaso in Kano politics and the damage Ganduje has done to your candature through his policies, abandoning of projects and corruption cases in his government.
This painted your government black in the eyes of Kanawa’s. The legacy of Kwankwaso in the politics of the state is something that he’s reaping its benefit, it’s what added him value politically to stand strong.
We all know how the election was won in 2019. It was a difficult moment for Ganduje, unfortunately, the same thing was repeated on you because of your principal.
You tried a lot with the number of votes you secured. I learned that you and your party didn’t accept the outcome calling on INEC to review the result which may lead to another inconclusive election.
It’s a trying time for you but I expect you to accept the outcome for the interest of your integrity. It’s obviously clear that the people of Kano have decided Abba not because he’s better than you in capacity and track record but because he hide under the umbrella of his leader Kwankwaso to defeat you and your party for the failure of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to fix Kano to ultimate triumph.
Even if election is to take place today, the NNPP will still win unless and except if the APC will use force like it did in 2019 which I do not hope. It’s a slap to democracy and the citizens of Kano.
As a patriotic citizen, I’m calling on you to accept the outcome, move forward so that you’ll not be distracted in your future political ambition.
Some people might want to distract you with your case at the tribunal as a way of blocking you from getting an appointment at the centre.
Accept the will of God as a devoted muslim and move forward. Many more prosperous endeavors will come your way.
2027 is another opportunity for you to give it a try.
Your future is bright.
