Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, says he has asked the state’s head of service to start working on how to increase the salaries of workers.
Addressing civil servants at the state secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja on Tuesday, the governor said his administration is sensitive to the plight of its workforce.
He said the state government will work at alleviating the suffering of the workers so that they can be more effective in the discharge of their duties.
He said: “I have looked around and I know that as a country, there is pressure.
“I know that, as a country, there is a high level of inflation. At our cabinet meeting, I instructed the head of service office and the ministry of staff, training, and pensions to start work on how we are going to increase the entire salary of our public servants.”
The offer is a coming a few months to the 2023 general election.
Sanwo-Olu is seeking re-election as governor while Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of the state, is running for office of the president.
