Southeast governors yesterday resolved to visit President Bola Tinubu to discuss the security challenges confronting the region.
They also look to plead for the release of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The five governors, Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Charles Soludo (Anambra), Alex Otti (Abia), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi) and Peter Ubah (Enugu) converged at Enugu State Government House for the meeting of the Southeast Governors’ Forum.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo paid a solidarity visit to the governors during their deliberations. He attended the meeting with former Commonwealth Secretary-General Chief Emeka Anyaoku and the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe. Obasanjo’s mission was not explained as access for questions or interviews by reporters were denied.
