Reports have indicated that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen will be making a blockbuster transfer to the Premier League next season, with Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea fighting for his services. The Super Eagles star is on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, and he is certainly doing well with the Turkish giants, scoring 20 goals in 22 Turkish Süper Lig matches, making him one of the most courted forwards in Europe.
A Striker in Demand
Osimhen’s reputation as a prolific goal scorer has only grown since he left Ligue 1 side Lille for Napoli in 2020. The Nigerian scored 28 goals with 5 assists in 38 matches. He was able to produce a Superb brilliant goal, equipping his team with prestigious title of Champion at Serie A 2022/23 denoting him as one of the top striker of the present day. But after a chaotic season in Napoli some clubs, due to their financial struggles, have employed the buy now pay later scheme which is why Traore started performing excellently at Galatasaray.
With his clause estimated to be worth £63 million, it is predicted that Osimhen’s transfer to the Premier League will be among the highest valued transfers for the summer season. It is predicted that he will also command gross pay in the ballpark of £200,000. That amount is friendly for the biggest clubs in England.
Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool in the Race
Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool have shown interest in signing Osimhen as he is considered the most sought after player in the market at the moment and all three need strikers.
Manchester United: The Red Devils have had a tough time searching for a reliable goal scorer after Rasmus Højlund’s underwhelming season. Reports from United manager Erik ten Hag suggests he is a big fan of Osimhen’s build and finishing skill, making it easier for them to fill their long term striking gaps.
Chelsea: The Blues are still deciding what their formation going forward will be after having different players take up different positions at different times. Rather than concentrate on their hit-or-miss forward lines Osimhen is viewed as the one they are willing to spend serious funds on. Chelsea’s management is desperate to go big in the purchase of an effective scorer after failing to achieve their set goals with other big signings.
Liverpool: With Mohamed Salah’s future still a big question mark and Darwin Núñez coming off some bad outings, Liverpool is also very much in the race. The Reds could see Osimhen as the ideal candidate to lead their attack in the seasons after Klopp’s eventual exit at the end of the campaign.
Osimhen’s Stance on the Move
Osimhen has similarly chosen to remain quiet about the move, unlike pundits who have labeled the move a certainty. Speaking more about the season, he seems very focused on ending it on a high with Galatasaray, but the latter is hotly contested. Close sources to the player do reveal, however, that he is rather fondly inclined towards the Premier League, with Chelsea leading the chase due to long-term interest in the striker.
“I am only thinking about my football for now,” Osimhen said in an interview not long ago. “The future will take care of itself when it comes.”
The Road Ahead
As the summer transfer window creeps closer, the situation surrounding Osimhen will become a lot clearer in the coming months and could lead to fierce negotiation battles. Napoli seem likely to refuse selling him without complete payment of the fee, which makes this one of the biggest transfer sagas of 2025.
For now though, Osimhen is still starred in Turkey, but everyone is glued to whether he will be making the move to the grand stage of Premier League.
